Since its establishment in April 1988, the St Andrew’s School Foundation has raised more than $1 million and provided some outstanding facilities for our children.

Some highlights of the work of the Foundation are:

2007

In line with its business plan, the Foundation Board is committed to engaging with the School community in progressing its five key intiiatives.

Promotion of the Scholarship Fund (tax deductible as at July 2006) has already seen two fully funded scholarships which will be offered to new students otherwise unable to attend the School. It is hoped that additional donations received during the year will add to these.

2006

During the course of the year, the Foundation Board undertook a strategic planning process. Criteria for Board Membership, Board Member Evaluation and a Board Member Agreement were confirmed.  These documents are now provided to all Board Members as part of their induction and form part of an Annual Board appraisal.

The Board is committed to launch an investment bonds programme in mid-2007 designed to generate long term sustainable income for the Foundation.  The bond programme is one of five current business plan initiatives, the others being Major Gifts, Community Gifts, Scholarships and Bequests.

St Andrew's School Foundation Day was celebrated on Tuesday 30 May and the guest speaker was Ms Lindy Petersen, child psychologist.

2005

On Tuesday 31 May our School celebrated its philanthropic heritage and acknowledged the valuable contribution of parents, grandparents, past students, staff and the local community in creating the School we enjoy today.

Each student was given a Foundation logo puzzle. In the evening, more than 120 parents, past students, prospective parents, grandparents and friends gathered in the School Hall to hear Dr Don Cameron speak about ‘The Educated Brain’. This was a fascinating and stimulating presentation which provided valuable insights into young children’s learning styles and adolescent behaviour. The presentation was followed by supper.

2004

On Thursday 13 May St Andrew's School Foundation Inc celebrated its own special day in the School calendar. This was a day of gift giving and reflection on the Reggio Emilia philosophy which underpins our vision for the new Early Learning Centre.  Each child in the School received a specially made gingerbread man in the form of the Foundation's logo 'Andy'.  Mrs Genia Janover, Principal of Bialik College in Melbourne, where they have recently opened a purpose built Early Learning Centre based on Reggio values, joined the School for the day.

At the close of the school year, following a successful outcome in the planning process, building of the Early Learning Centre and additional play space for Years 1 and 2 was well underway.  The Fundraising Campaign continued to attract support and the Fundraising Committee had prepared a comprehensive program fo the start of 2005.

2003

The Foundation launched its most significant campaign to date in May 2003.  In support of the School’s ‘Creating our Future’ development project, the Foundation has committed to raise more than $1 million before the end of 2006.

By the end of the year, more than $270,000 had been raised with support from individual donors, corporations, the Pickard Foundation and the Parents' Association.

2002

The Hundred Thousand Dollar Challenge Campaign exceeded its target raising $105,000. The Campaign was initiated by the Birgel Family who promised to match donations dollar for dollar and contributed more than $50,000 to the Foundation as a result.  This money will enable a larger and greener Upper Primary play area as part of the Master Plan.

The School Library Fund was launched as an option for donors on an on-going basis. Funds raised assist in the provision of resources and the latest technology to enable our children to access knowledge stored online, on compact discs and in books.

Donations to either the School Library Fund or the School Building Fund may be made with quarterly fee payments.
