Join the Walkway of Heroes

20/11/14 – St Andrews School – Picture Simon Cross

Following the purchase of St Andrew’s Lane by the gymnasium, the School created a new entrance to the grounds known as the Walkway of Heroes: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.  Personalised pavers recognise the heroes of the past, particularly our old scholar veterans of the First World War, old scholars of today and the students who will become the heroes of tomorrow.

Families contributed to the walkway with individually engraved pavers which have become a striking feature.  So many people walk with their eyes down as it is hard to resist admiring the handiwork of our students and reading the names on each paver like a history of our community.

Each paver is engraved with an outline of the individual’s hand, alongside their name and date.  It is such a thrill for past students to come back and to see their little hand from earlier childhood years.

A section of the walkway is now available for new pavers and everyone is invited to join in. You may order as many pavers as you like for your family or perhaps dedicate a paver in memory of a special person.

Just complete the order form with a donation of $150 per paver to set aside the number of pavers you require. You will then be provided with the correct paper for the artwork to be completed for engraving on the paver.

Donations to the project are also tax deductible. For any enquiries please contact Marissa Brown, Public Relations Manager:

A paver in the walkway is a lasting way to enjoy your special connection with St Andrew’s School and to be part of our visual history.
