FAQs

+ What is a no-show event?

A no-show event is a modern take on the traditional gala ball or formal fundraising event. Typically, charitable organisations can incur significant expenses staging an event (think venue hire, catering, entertainment, theming, etc), with most of the income from ticket sales going towards covering these expenses. No-show events don’t incur these types of expenses, meaning that more profits go straight to the charitable cause, in this case, the education of St Andrew’s School students.

+ How is this event different from the Foundation’s usual Long Sunday Lunch fundraiser?

In recent years, you may have attended the Foundation’s Long Sunday Lunch, tickets to which cost around $165 per head. In addition to the ticket price, guests are also invited to bid on the silent and main auction items at the event.

This year, instead of the Long Sunday Lunch, we’re trying something new with the Long Sunday Sleep-In. Ticket prices (between $45 and $75 per ticket, depending upon how many you buy) are much less than the Long Sunday Lunch, and guests won’t have any additional costs such as auction items or costs associated with attending a formal event (e.g. a new outfit, babysitters, taxi, etc). In fact, as a Long Sunday Sleep-In guest you’ll receive a goodie bag upon registration plus you’ll go into the draw to win a share in more than $12,000 worth of prizes. We think that’s great value for money!

We hope that our community will get on board with this innovative concept, which has the aim of raising the same, if not more, in fundraising dollars for the Foundation – which goes straight towards projects that benefit the students of St Andrew’s School.

+ How can I be sure my money is going to St Andrew’s School Foundation?

The Long Sunday Sleep-In is being run in accordance with theLottery and Gaming Regulations 2008. St Andrew’s School Foundation has been granted a Major Lottery Licence from the Government of South Australia, Consumer and Business Services (Licence No M13746).

The Long Sunday Sleep-In Lottery is being audited by William Buck accountants and the prize draw will take place under the supervision of an independent scrutineer (in accordance with the regulations).

+ What if I don’t want to buy tickets online?

+ When do tickets go on sale?

+ Are tickets tax deductible?

No, tickets are not tax deductible. However, if you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to the St Andrew’s School Foundation’s Long Sunday Sleep-In, you can do so via the QKR! App.

+ When can I pick up my Long Sunday Sleep-In Supply Kit?

Long Sunday Sleep-In Supply Kits will be available for collection from the St Andrew’s School front office from Monday 28 October 2019.

+ How do I enter the Long Sunday Sleep-In Lottery?

To enter the lottery, you need to purchase a ticket to the Long Sunday Sleep-In. Each ticket purchased gives you one entry into the Lottery. Your ‘seat’ number for the Long Sunday Sleep-In is your lottery ticket number. This will be emailed to you once you have purchased your tickets.

There is a total of 950 tickets available, which will be sold as follows:

  • Single – $75 for one ticket (300 single tickets available / 300 tickets in total)
  • Double – $130 for two tickets (125 bundles of two available / 250 tickets in total)
  • Queen – $275 for five tickets (40 bundles of five available / 200 tickets in total)
  • King – $450 for 10 tickets (20 bundles of 10 available / 200 tickets in total)

+ When will the prizes be drawn?

Prizes will be drawn on Sunday 17 November at 11.00am at St Andrew’s School, 22 Smith Street, Walkerville. The prize draw will take place under the supervision of an independent scrutineer.

+ How will prize winners be notified?

Results will be published on the St Andrew’s School Facebook Page, via email to the school community on Monday 18 November, 2019 and in The Advertiser on Friday 22 November, 2019.

+ Do I have to attend the prize draw to claim my prize?

No. Prizes will be collected by the winners if attending the draw. If the winner/s are not present at the draw, the prize will be available for collection at the St Andrew’s School front office, located at 22 Smith Street, Walkerville, during business hours, with the exception of gift vouchers or tickets, which will be posted or emailed within seven business days of the prize draw.

+ How do I get access to the Facebook Live prize draw on Sunday 17 November?

Simply visit the St Andrew’s School Facebook page @StAndrewsSchoolWalkerville and click on the Facebook live post to access the live prize draw. We recommend you ‘like’ the St Andrew’s page prior to the event so that you will be notified when the Facebook live event commences (if you have push notifications enabled).

+ What will the funds raised be used for?

Funds raised from the Long Sunday Sleep-In will go towards the redevelopment of Kennion House, Stage 2 of the School’s Master Plan.

+ Why does the School need to raise money?

For the majority of independent schools in Australia, tuition fees cover only the School’s operating budget. In order to invest in capital projects and programs over and above ‘business as usual’, Schools conduct fundraising campaigns.

For St Andrew’s, fundraising enables us to fast-track projects, like the Master Plan, to make a St Andrew’s education exceptional.

The School Foundation welcomes donations to its building fund and scholarship fund all throughout the year. To make a tax-deductible donation to the St Andrew’s School Foundation’s Long Sunday Sleep-In, you can do so via the QKR! App.
