Primary Music Teacher

St Andrew’s School, Walkerville is an Co-Educational Anglican Independent Primary School covering Early Learning to Year 7.  After 168 years we are proud of our exceptional student outcomes, rich history and strong community.

A permanent position exists from Term 1, 2019 for a qualified Primary Music Teacher. The position will involve a combination of classroom music, ensembles and instrumental lessons. The pro rata full time equivalency will depend on the skill set of the successful applicant. It is envisaged that the position will be between 0.8 to 1.0FTE

The School is seeking a passionate musician with the ability to lead and motivate students and staff in our extensive music programme.

The successful applicant will demonstrate a proven track record in combining talented musicianship and sound management skills. Be motivated to create dynamic environments that ensure every child achieves beyond their perceived potential, competent in the creation of Inquiry Based learning and energised by working with talented staff in a future focused school.

Music at St Andrew’s School is a vibrant and exciting performance based program. Approximately 80% of students are enrolled in individual instrumental tuition, achieving success in AMEB from Preliminary to Grade 8. All students have the opportunity to participate in one of our 28 co-curricular ensembles and choirs.

There are numerous performance opportunities each term, from solo recitals to major events such as An Evening with Strings, Bands Cabaret, St Andrew’s in Concert and Speech Night. Classroom Music allows students to explore composition and performance in many mediums and genres. Curriculum Music Programs include Year 2 Recorder, Year 3 Strings, Year 4 Brass and Woodwind, Year 4 Musical and Year Level Choirs.
