Cathie Egarr
Interim Principal

Cathie joined the St Andrew’s School staff in 1997 with a Bachelor of Education and a National Excellence Teaching Award.

With a passion for teaching, Cathie has extensive teaching experience in Junior Primary, Primary and music education. Other roles at St Andrew’s School have included Debating Coordinator, Tour Organiser for Japan and Coordinator of our inaugural China tour.

In July 2011, Cathie moved from her role as Staff Coordinator, responsible for mentoring new staff and as a Year 7 teacher, to the position of Director of the Early Learning Centre (ELC). During this time, Cathie also completed her second teaching degree with a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education.

Since taking on this role, Cathie has implemented the St Andrew’s Playgroup for our local community and the Vacation Care Programme for ELC to Year 2 students. She has also overseen the establishment of our second ELC Building, Habich ELC, to cater for the growing number of children in attendance.

From July 2017, Cathie took the role as Head of Early Years. Cathie’s positive relationship with students and their families gives a sense of belonging and assists with a strong transition from ELC into Reception.

In 2021, this role developed to also include the Year 1 team and then in 2022, Cathie was appointed as Deputy Principal, ELC - Year 1, with numerous other roles and responsibilities throughout the school.

In July 2022, Cathie accepted the position of Interim Principal for the remainder of the 2022 school year. This will conclude when Mr Luke Ritchie begins his Principalship in January 2023. Cathie will then revert to her role as Deputy Principal.
