Cross Country Championship

The School Cross Country Championship will take place on Friday June 9, at the River Torrens Linear Park track in Walkerville.

Please take note of the following information for the day:

All children from Year 3 to Year 6 are required to participate, unless they are unable to do so due to a medical condition or other reasons. If your child will not participate, please make a brief diary note to that effect.

Races for 12 and 11-year-olds will be adjusted to cover approximately 2000m, with staggered starts beginning at 9.30am on the cycle track near the River Torrens.

Races for 10, 9 and 8-year-olds will cover a distance of 1600m, with races starting from 11.30am.

Children will be accompanied by teaching staff in a ratio of 1:10 and walked to and from the track. Please provide your permission below for you child/ren to walk to and from the River Torrens Linear Park track below by no later than 5pm on Friday 2 June.

Children should wear their sports uniform and bring a rain jacket, tracksuit, towel, and drink bottle for after the run. Please ensure that your child brings a change of clothes and shoes, as they will get wet and dirty during the race, and will need warm and dry clothes for the remainder of the school day.

The presentation of awards will take place in the Gym, where medals will be given to individual children who place in the top three for each age/gender group. This will occur at approximately 1.45pm, and all parents are invited to attend.

Lastly, we are in need of two to three more volunteers to assist as Marshalls around the track. Even if you could provide 30 minutes of your time, it would be greatly appreciated. Please speak to me in person or email me at tmylonas@standrews.sa.edu.au if you are able to assist.
