Early Learning Centre (ELC)
About the ELC
The St Andrew’s School Early Learning Centre (ELC) welcomes children from 3 years of age and, depending on their birth date, children can then progress to either January or Mid-Year Reception intakes at St Andrew's School.
Our ELC is guided by the Reggio Emilia Philosophy, the Early Learning Framework (EYLF) and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme. Underpinning all we do is our image of children being capable, competent, curious, full of wonder with endless potential and possibilities.
Careful choices are made to provide our children with a rich, nurturing, and respectful learning environment that embraces our multicultural community. Supported playful learning experiences provide a wide range or opportunities for learning and developing strong emotional wellbeing and social relationships.
We believe that learning through play is a fundamental children's right and it is at the core of our ELC and curriculum. Children learn each day through participation in the many intentional and self-chosen play experiences which are available. We aim to challenge our students' thinking, encourage them to see things from the other perspectives, to discover something not known and to build on previous understandings.
