Where Bright Futures Begin
Harmony Week in the Early Years
We shared a wonderful ‘Harmony Week’ with our ELC community last week and would like to take an opportunity to thank our families for their committed involvement. Almost all families contributed to our Harmony display and paper chains by sharing a family tradition or custom with us. Children were so proud to share an element of their home life with us. We saw some wonderful ‘splashes of orange’ on display and some beautiful traditional cultural outfits.
“Harmony Week is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.” www.harmony.gov.au
As part of our inquiry into ‘Belonging’, family photos are proudly on display in each room or Piazza and the children love taking opportunities to look at them together. Not only does this help to build a sense of belonging, it also builds a sense of pride and connection to each other. We love seeing the varied, but equally special family photos that come our way.
We have another wonderful week planned next week with our traditional Easter celebrations. We will join our St Andrew’s community for the whole school assembly on Wednesday morning, singing ‘Bunny Rabbit Boogie’ with our hearts full. On Wednesday afternoon we will participate in our annual Easter Hunt and children may be surprised by a special visitor who might pop in while we are outside. Shhh…..
