Where Bright Futures Begin
Sports Day Finale 2022
The condition of the ground and the weather was definitely a discussion point at this year’s Finale – on what looked like a rainy and cloudy day. The oval had just began maintenance work after a long AFL season, but this didn’t dampen our children’s spirits.
Prior to this event, each year level (3 – 6) had participated in their re-scheduled Year Level Sports Day this term and had performed enthusiastically. This year’s event was successful due to each child’s desire to achieve their personal best. Every year one of the most pleasing aspects of our Sports Day is the children's display of kindness, care, respect for others and their true spirit of competition. Throughout the day our wonderful children demonstrated moments of kindness, close finishes, honesty, hard work and dedication to the task at hand. We had many children who assisted in helping staff officiate events and quite often congratulated others on the participation in events. This shows a true reflection upon the staff and parents of our children and it’s something that I’m proud to see.
The Finale looked and felt normal again as most restrictions had eased and once again included a drum-line march to Walkerville Oval. The National Anthem was sung by Year 6 students Rose Ward and Alex Adol with Alex also reading our Acknowledgement of Country.
The drum-line march was orchestrated with the assistance of Mr Andrew Chan & Ms Coppens and some very talented students. Many children had dressed up in the ‘Parents' Association’ House polo shirts to show team spirit and this all added to the sense of occasion. The House spirit was in full voice with lots of singing and cheering. Even though the Parents tug-o-rope was not on the official program, we decided to merge the teacher and parent event to bring the much loved event back.
A big thanks go to all students for their spirit and competition throughout the Sports Day process. To Mr Moss and Mrs Morgan, for the high level expertise showed, support given to myself and official work all throughout the Sports Day process. To all the staff, including those behind the scenes such as the maintenance crew and Jordan (sound tech) for the sound set-up and others - thank you. To the Parents' Association for providing the sausage sizzle and refreshments stand and finally, a big thank you to the parents who supported our Sports Day and Finale events.
