Where Bright Futures Begin
From the PE Office
The end of the school year is almost upon us but before it finishes, I just wanted to say a big thank you to all the children. Sometimes we plan to challenge you and make you fail at some activities in Health & Physical Education. We do this to aid your learning. We do this because we need you to understand that life doesn’t always work out the way you want it, resilience is the key and with that comes strong self belief. You all should be proud of the learning that has occurred. An example of this type of resilience was evident last term when we had some children who couldn’t ride a bike but, within a few lessons, learnt, failed, took some risks and eventually completed the bike hike challenge.
Throughout 2022 we have seen true examples of resilience, courage, self belief and constant trial and error. Mr Moss and I hope that you enjoy a deserved break and that in 2023 you have more opportunities to learn and grow. On this note a big congratulations and farewell to the Year 6s who have once again proved to us all that St Andrew's really does develop the whole child. From acts of kindness, honesty, courage and determination we hope that the next schooling chapter in your lives is just as fruitful as the one that’s just about to be completed.
A big shout out to the St Andrew's community (staff, parents, families, coaches) who constantly give their time and hard work to make our sporting teams as successful as they possibly can.
I must also mention that this term we have had some children do remarkably well representing North Adelaide at District Tennis & Cricket carnivals. Ava Mouchakar won a gold medal with her Tennis team. Darshbir Singh and Ilan Storer also won a gold medal with their cricket team. A special congratulations also to Eva Flint who competed at the National School Sport Athletics championships. Although she never placed, she achieved some personal best times and will hopefully use this experience to come back even better in 2023.
We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year.
Mr Mylonas
Director of PE & Sport
